At Bay Leadership Academy we know that getting the basics right is essential. Occasionally, despite the best efforts of our partner primary schools, some students start with us a little behind in their literacy and numeracy. We are committed to supporting them to catch up as quickly as possible, as we know this is the best way to ensure that they can thrive in and beyond school.
Our Catch-up Premium budget for 2015/2016 is £13,000, and pays for the following interventions:
- small group literacy support through accelerated reader and IDL;
- during tutor time, year 7 and 8 students benefit from additional access to IT facilities as part of our Skoolbo programme (an online "game format" literacy and numeracy programme that children use at home and at school) and the support of a TA;
- pastoral support from our Head of Year 7 and Transition Manager to make the move to secondary school as easy and smooth as possible.
